This is our final music video. We have changed many things throughout the drafting process. This includes the removal of our dance scenes which in the end we felt did not fit into the video well. We made our video narrative, whereas originally we planned to have many aspects of performance, but narrowed it down to purely lip-syncing elements. We felt this kept more in keeping with the style of song and also matched our auxiliary tasks better.

Re-edited CD Disc
After receiving my audience feedback I decided that my DigiPack was too plain and simple - even though my theme is simplistic, I personally felt that it was too over the top simple. Therefore I decided to adapt my CD disc accordingly. I feel that my edited design is a lot more representing of Molly and also will not look so boring when in the CD case, like I feel it would have before.

CD DigiPack
CD
CD Cover Inside & Outside
Poster Inside DigiPack
This is my CD cover for my second auxiliary task. I made both the cover and the actual CD using Photoshop. I used very similar fonts to my website to create the feel that there is a common theme between them. I also used Photoshop to edit the images that I used in the cover. I also created a common themed logo which is commonly used on the cover and on the website. Also, using Photoshop again, I created a branded merchandise which mainly all use the logo. Creating this kind of theme, replicated a real artist as they all tend to have their things link together. I used a CD template from the website DiscWizard. This meant I could download it and import it into Photoshop and then create the cover. I used a black background throughout as my website background is also black. I then used images of the artist as most CD covers contain images of the artist as part of promotion. I also imported copyright logos, record label logos and other logos to create a more realistic look. Having the CD template was very useful as it meant I knew the boundaries and make it even and realistic. Also, having the common theme of black and white with the pyramid shapes creates a feel that may make fans recognise thr artists items. A Goodwin Seven demand in a music video is that there are close ups of the artist (to make them recognisable) and also that there is a visual style. I have created both of these things within my website and my CD cover which I personally feel adds to the realism. I tried to keep both the website and the CD cover quite simplistic which is why i like the theme of black & white. I feel this represents our music video quite well as our video is very emotional and shows Molly as a drained person, so the theme works well. Then, I decided to add some posters that you would find in the DigiPack. A lot of CD packs contain posters for people who buy the album. Especially for the younger target audience, this would be cool for them to hang in their rooms. The idea is that the bigger poster would have the other two printed on the back so you can reverse have which ever poster you want. They are a bit of fun for younger fans.

- I got a lot of feedback from my target audience on both my auxiliary tasks. Some of the good things that they said about my DigiPack was that "the simplistic style works well", "i like the consistency" & "pleasing contemporary design". After asking them, I also decided to change a couple of things. One person told me that the front cover looked to overcrowded with the amount of shapes so I decided to get rid of one to make Molly stand out more. Also, someone commented on the fact that sepia didn't quite match the black background and so I decided to make them black and white. Another person said how they thought the 4 photos shouldn't be all the same so I decided to change two. It just looks a little different which I like.

- Some of the positive comments on my website were that people thought it was "has a constant professional look", "easy to navigate", "the black and white colour scheme works really well" & "very user friendly". But then I also asked for ways to improve my website. I got feedback like "more information", "increase of logo size", "add more music advertisement" & "add more photos". This encouraged me to change a few things on my website. I decided to edit my cover photo at the top of my whole website. It was also commented on, that the edges were a bit rough and so I softened up the edges of the image. I also changed the size of logo as, it was a consistent theme throughout, it needed to be larger to make it stand out more. I also updated my information sections and added more to it, this is what a few people commented on so I felt I should add more information. Also, another thing was that there wasn't enough advertisement of her music, especially her new music video, so I added a new section on the homepage to communicate this. I also felt like, after receiving the feedback, a few more natural photos were needed. I decided to use realistic, sometimes unaware, images to communicate her innocence and down-to-earth-ness. I'm glad I changed what I did, as it seems more professional and natural.

Homework: Past Student Evaluation Analysis
Question 1) In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Shannon Lewis
Shannon Lewis
Q1 from Shanandcris
- This evaluation talks a lot about the reasons behind why she did what she did. For example, she lists all of Goodwin's Seven theories of music video and then says whether or not she complied or challenged these conventions and the reasons behind it. She also researched real media products so that she could create the most realistic product possible, but also challenged some conventions (eg. used reviews on her poster, typically on movie posters, but then just explained why she decided to that). She has used SlideShare which is quite a boring and simple technology. She has imported lots of relevant images to back up what she is saying but it is a still just a powerpoint and has limited interaction. I don't really like this type of technology and don't think that I am going to use it for one of my evaluation questions. Her aim was clearly just to get the relevant and important information across to the reader and didn't necessarily think of it as an important factor to make it really interactive. This has made me want to make sure all my question answers are interactive and fun for the audience.
Question 2) How effective is the combination of your main product and auxiliary tasks?
Lew Parker
- He went into great detail of research about the consistency of artists and their style. He even created a branding project which he discusses in detail and how the synergy of all the media products will generate interest. Also, through his own personal research he discovered 'the House Style'. He researched a lot to understand how to create the most realistic and professional media products. I really like how Lew presented his evaluation. He made a Prezi to present all 4 evaluation questions and then individually posted his questions within the Prezi. Question 2 happened to also be a Prezi, but using other technologies within a technology is very original and clever. Also, Prezi's a very user-friendly site yet still very interactive. Although, his research is extremely detailed which is why he got the highest possible grade, for the reader the big long paragraphs are a little boring so maybe cutting them down and adding in more features (images, videos) would be better. (In fairness, his other evaluation questions are more interesting with videos and whizzy features, etc,)
Question 3) What have you learned from your audience feedback?
Mark Logan
- Using glogster was a really good way to answer this question. You can import anything and make it really fun and interactive. It's a really creative way to present work. As it is very easy way to import loads of cool whizzy features, it meant for this question you could put in little quotes from audience members, images, videos, lots of writing, etc. After looking at Mark's work I now know to include lots about the different types of media I used to get as much target audience research as possible, to include all the different ways I collected this data (surveys, videos, etc.) and then also whether or not the research I collected was good, bad, relevant, I needed more, etc. Although, considering glogster is open to endless possibilities of creativeness, I feel that I could add in loads more little things, like clips and more information is small and large sections.
Question 4) How did you use media technologies in the construction, research, planning and evaluation stages?
Daisy Beaven
- There are a lot of media technologies I would not have necessary considered talking about until reading Daisy's evaluation. This includes everything from the internet, to the computers, to blogger, cameras, different websites, etc. Also using images of hardware you're talking about and maybe screenshots of software that your talking will make it a lot more interesting and make more sense for the reader to read. Also, including all the technologies from all the stages, there is a lot to talk about and so will be one of the easier questions to answer. Although Daisy has talked about a lot of different technologies, I would say I would add more detail to all of them as for some them she briefly describes them and then I would also explain more of why I used them and how it aided the process for me.

Auxiliary Tasks - Audience Research
After printing off my Digi-Pack and showing people my website (both my auxiliary tasks) I asked them what they liked and disliked about them both and then how I can improve on them. This really helped me as I can now edit and improve them both to the standards of my target audience, meaning that will like them more and then more likely to "buy them".

Audience Response
These are the results that our target audience responded to our first draft of our video. The video is uncompleted and so there are a lot of parts where there is just Molly singing where we are going to add in different clips (once filmed) or overlay different clips like we have done a few times during the video. This has helped us greatly as it means we know what the liked (so what we can add more of) and what they disliked (what to either remove, have less of or not film more of) and it also made it clear for us of what we have left to do to make it more appealing to our target audience.
